Digital impression is a process that consists of the direct impression of a digital paper file or other materials by various means, the most common being ink ink printer (cartridges), and toner in laser printer.

This process, usually offered professionally by small businesses, is ideal for low volume printing projects and/or highly short delivery times, since one of the main advantages it offers is the almost immediate availability of the forms, since it does not require drying or cooling time by not working with inks as dense as those used in the offset printing process.

This sector of graphic arts is experiencing great growth, which has led the different manufacturers and suppliers to launch digital equipment to the market with greater benefits, prepared to meet the new requirements imposed by the market.

Digital impression has a double aspect: the little and the large format. The first even suffers from a lack of some reliability and presents some deficiencies (including not having a 50 × 70 format). The large format, meanwhile, offers certain ecological and cost problems. This makes digital impression to develop even more.

However, one of the added values offered by digital impression is product customization. Personalized impression is a market in growing expansion.

At present, digital printing with domestic or office equipment has bifurcated its course since ink jet printers are being used in the textile industry, more precisely for sublimation of various fabrics or objects. Also some laser printers to stamp transfer into fabrics.

With regard to large format impressions known as gigantographs, we can currently find printing equipment with latex inks that are less ecologically harmful than the previous ones with inks to the solvent.
