A service station, benzinera 1 (in Chile), Bomba (in Colombia, Costa Rica, Panama, Dominican Republic and Venezuela), Tap (in Peru), gas station (in Ecuador, Spain and Peru) or Servicenter, it has traditionally been a point of sale of fuel and lubricants for motor vehicles. At present, service stations can offer many other complementary service, which have to do or not, with the needs of vehicles. Thus, service stations have also offered other products, according to countries, having these now, convenience stores, small supermarkets, mechanical workshops, washing and lubrication of vehicles and/or many other services.

Service stations and fuel vegetables are usually organized in cameras or federations, who represent them in front of national authorities and hydrocarbon producing companies. But in turn, all stations are grouped into powerful third generation entities. For example, in Argentina, the representation is in the hands of the Confederation of Hydrocarbons and Related Trade Entities of the Argentine Republic (CECHA), which today represents more than 4,800 service stations in that country.

Although in theory they can be established and buy freely, service stations are usually associated with large distributors, with exclusive contracts.

Generally, service stations offer gasoline and gasoline, both oil derived. Some stations provide alternative fuels, such as liquefied oil gas (LPG), natural gas, compressed natural gas, ethanol, gasohol, biodiesel, hydrogen and kerosene.

Also, in some countries they also sell butane and adblue pets.

A service station that allows supplying electric vehicles is called electroinera.

The essential elements of gas stations are the suppliers and fuel deposits. According to current regulations in Spain, deposits must be double or simple. The materials of which deposits are manufactured are steel or PRFV.
