In Spain, in the CAP the basic core is made up of health professionals (family doctor, pediatrician and nursing), as well as administrative staff. However, it is increasingly frequent to find other professionals (social worker, midwife, dentist, psychologist, psychiatrist, rheumatologist, etc.) that are expanding the spectrum of services offered in health centers, although their contributions to primary care are under discussion.
A medical office refers to a smaller health structure, generally located in a town, and with fewer professionals. At least a rural doctor is composed. One or more offices usually depend organizationally on a reference health center.
In Spain, a polyclinic is considered an ambulatory in which several medical specialties and exceptionally general medical specialties work.
In a Spanish health center there is usually a reception or reception service of citizens who go to CAP or are directed by telephone to the same or online. This service gives direct satisfaction to concrete demands, such as delivery and collection of documentation, information, etc., or program views for the different professionals who provide their services in the CS.
Usually in the CAP there are consultations or offices for the different professionals or services offered, there may also be areas for the extraction of blood samples for analysis, emergency care area with appropriate equipment (priest car, electrocardiograph, oxygen therapy material, defibrillator, emergency medication, etc.).
